Catherine Bush, Kent-born pianist’s daughter, wrote dozens of songs as a teen. David Gilmour backed her demo; EMI waited; Wuthering Heights made her the first woman to top the UK chart with a self-written song. She amassed synths and the Fairlight, produced herself, then stepped back from the road. Hounds of Love was built for vinyl sides. Decades later a Netflix needle-drop sent the analog object back into shops.
